BA in Theatre, Television and Film Studies

Drawing on the strengths of faculty in theatre, television, film, media studies, music, dance, communication, carving, weaving, pottery, painting, ceramics, sculpting, textiles, and design, programmes in Performing and Visual Arts seek to define and promote a new generation of Cameroonian artists, critics and scholars capable of working across the traditional boundaries of performing and visual arts to combine innovative art practice with leading edge technical knowledge. It strives to provide within a broadly based curriculum, liberal and professional oriented degree programmes which combine creative development in an artistic discipline with career preparation through individualised instruction. The Department of Performing and Visual Arts also has as mission to offer enriching cultural opportunities to all students and members of the university community and practising artists in and around the country; be recognised as a major regional and national arts resource through creative and scholarly excellence in artistic performance, productions, exhibitions, library holdings and technology; and to be recognised as the centre for arts education, outreach, collaboration, professional leadership and interdisciplinary promotion in Cameroon and Africa.

Prerequisite
Applicants for admission into the BA programmes must fulfil the minimum entry requirements set by The University of Bamenda. Candidates should have passed the G.C.E. ‘O’ Level in at least 5 subjects including English Language and the G.C.E. ‘A’ Level in at least 2 subjects. Admissions into the MA programmes are based on a good undergraduate Degree (Second Class Lower [2.2] or Mention Assez-Bien) in any related Field. PhD admissions are highly selective on the basis of a Good MA/MFA in Theatre, Television and Film or related Disciplines.
